It does everything I would ever want: ICSP and (using the demoboard and a board I created myself) off-line programming of a wide range of PICmicros, which include all the ones I have, and more. It is also fast enough (at least twice as fast as my JDM programmer) and might be integrated with MPLAB as well. But I should phrase this as a question: what makes the PICkit 2 "so so" and cause users to "soon out grow it"?
