I'm sure the locals will correct me if I'm wrong. THe PCH is Highway "1"; 101 is inland a good ways. Beyond the first set of mountains, more or less. 101 is the the road that goes along the coast of the SF Bay for that part of its existence. > All interstates that go long distances have 2 digit numbers. > Three digit numbers means a ring road if the hundreds digit is > even, and a spur if the hundreds digit is odd. > An interesting theory; It might even be true for interstates, but it seems like useless trivia if there is such a conflict with non-interstate highways. 280 and 880 are two popular roads in the CA bay area, and neither is a loop of any sort. And 17 is quite short these days... (altough there is a point where 280 S and 880 N are the same set of lanes. Or is it the other way around. There's a song about it; or theCa Bay area highways in general...) -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
