Most new laser printers use various methods, like inducive heating, to very quickly warm up the fuser, to the point where they can print a page in as little as a few seconds. My guess is that the insides are therefor *not* being kept particularly warm, so keeping the toner dry would be a bad reason to leave it on. My printer in my apartment is left off 99% of the time, being turned on every few months in a random fashion when I suddenly need to print something at 4am and it's still working fine. Of course, you seem to mention that your printer does take some time to warm up, so my advice might not be so correct. Toners are supposed to have expiry dates too, but it sounds like you use your printer often enough that that is not an issue. -- pete@petertodd.ca http://www.petertodd.ca -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
