What does it take to make an RFID reader? I'm thinking of a small 
inexpensive tag reader that could be incorporated into a PC for the 
purpose of logging in users. If we just need a 1/2 or 1 inch range, 
does it make the tag reader easier?

I did google this, but the there was so much information that it was 
hard to even figure out which system to build.

Any ideas or web references?
