If I'm really interested enough in their products that my name is worth having in their database, I ought to be happy with the equivalent $value of stuff manufactured by said vendor... If you'd like to have something between "just reimburse for HW" and "$1000 cash", you could offer $1000 credit toward your company's products. Or whatever. This won't always work (ie if you only offer a single $100 product, who wants 10 of them), but I think the embeddedinc product line could come close to making it work (well, $500 would be easy...)
