Several people sent quick replies (and I thank all of you), so this is just a general response to all of them. The PIC is a 16F628-04/P -- not a 16F628A. I have read about the Wisp628 support at www.robh.nl, but was under the impression that it was Linux based, and I can only use Windows XP right now (although one of these days . . . ) At any rate, the guy that I bought the Wisp628 from said to just download the material from voti.nl and that it would suit my needs fine. So I am still on the early part of that particular learning curve. I tried doing "xwisp.py verbose go tut2_1" as suggested, and it gets a lot further. The "verbose" command puts out a lot of information, but eventually puts out: Send_Expect( "3D18w") . . . (followed by some trackback information) . . . _main_.Wbus_Protocol_Error: send=' 3D18w' received=' 3D18?' Then it quits. Running without the verbose command produces the same thing (except a lot less info printed out).
