I'm looking in to what it would take to make that available. The main question in my mind is what "sets" of topics to make available. E.g. there are actually 8 different topic channels: pic, sx, avr, ee, ot, buy, ad, and other. The first thing that comes to mind is to just make them each a separate download. But perhaps that would make it confusing for people who expect to get pic and ee (for example) in chronological order together? The next question is what format to make it available in. Would an html page be acceptable? Then I can include clickable links, munged email addresses and mailto links for quick replies. A final issue is one of load. I wonder how many people would download the digest each day? If the load is light, no problem, but if a lot of people move from getting digests via the MIT servers over to getting digests from the piclist.com server, my cost may be an issue. I'm not sure if I can include Google/Amazon ads to try to offset that cost. Not that they would actually generate enough to do so. Then, I expect, people will start asking that the digest from the site be emailed to them automatically rather than having to manually download it, or they will start trying to get it automatically via an offline browser system, which my server is set up to detect and violently block. Please read http://www.piclist.com/dontripthissite.htm before commenting on that issue. I can probably manage some emailing of the digest, but again, it's an issue of load. I guess the thing to do is just try and see how it goes. I can deal with the load issues if they come up.
