Falcon is Space-X's first step in bringing low cost space access to the masses, and in the longer term sending Elon, or some of his staff, to Mars. First launch is scheduled for this Thursday. They MAY make it to orbit first time out, but all sorts of past history says they almost certainly wont. http://www.spacex.com/updates.php should work else http://www.spacex.com/ Elon is about 34. For those who are less than convinced that a startup can really achieve such aims. 1. Scepticism warranted. 2. You do know how Elon funds his ventures. don't you :-)? Google knows, but as a start, he sold ZIP2Corp to Compaq for $US300M in 1999 before the bubble burst, and Paypal to eBay for $US1.5B not too long ago. So he has some spare cash. To get to Mars more would be useful so here's hoping the early parts of his venture work.
