Yeah, it made me think what other linkers do.  I'm not sure now.  I thought
this was the purpose of the WEAK attribute, but maybe anything from a
library file is automatically treated as WEAK?  I've only ever used dsPIC
libraries to hold all but the startup routine of my projects.  That way I
can include debug code in the build and the linker only grabs it if it's
referenced, which it wouldn't be in a production build.
