Java could be a good one for you everything is free even the tutorials. I just started with it and I am finding it really good, plenty of help on l= ine. I am actually following a book by David J. Barnes and Michael K=F6llin= g called objects first with Java. It comes with it's one IDE called BlueJ t= hat uses the Sun Java compiler. I can not fault it, it as actually been ado= pted as a test book at a lot of UK Universities. The book "Beginning programming for dummies" uses Liberty BASIC as = it's target language - a 2 faced compliment :-) Their aim apprars to be a sinmple easily earned language purposefully = not made "feature ricj" but able to meet most programming needs.
