Avctually wireless chips consume more power than wired ones because they have to run much higher frequency synthesizers and their dividers, as well as cpus and processing arrays to match the speed. Given all things equal, and the same speed, the power should be related only to the chip areas. No ? Microwave circuits are notorious for being power dumps.
