I've read it and I think it is a fine book. Written by Clifford Stoll who in the book comes across as a very human and clever person. He is an astronomer and a typical grad student. Contrast this with Takedown by Tsutomu Shimomura. In this book he just comes across as a self-centered, egotistical, look-at-me-mom! guy who helped the authorities find Mitnick. This is my take on it: Mr. Stoll was a pioneer. Mr. Shimomura was just out to glorify himself. -----Original Message----- From: piclist-bounces@mit.edu [mailto:piclist-bounces@mit.edu] On Behalf Of Alan B. I cannot remember who wrote it, but I read the condensed form as about 3 parts in a magazine (wasn't Byte, but a similar one) some time back. That was a true story. -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
