I'm looking for information on the protocol used by Minolta to communicate with their flashes (the things that make the blinding light - not the memory cards). The latest cameras are not compatible with the older flashes even though many of the older units are extremely capable. For example, the older and readily available wirelessly controllable 3500Xi and 3600Xi not only control illumination level (as one would expect) but also will zoom the flash to match the cameras zoom setting. It's possible, albeit unlikely, that there may be enough information around to allow a simple protocol conversion twixt the new and old units. Probably not worth the effort, but it would be nice to know what was involved.
