I find it easiest to use Excel as the input file and print them like mailing labels. I am using Word 2000 and I can assure you it is quirky. The only information that is useful is in the Word Help files. Publisher 2003 is a lot easier and works as advertised. I still use Excel as an input file, it is just easier for me. My serial number operation is usually event tickets for fund raisers I work on as a volunteer. I do several newsletters each month which is why I have Publisher. If you have a real Dos machine around with a printer the program is easy to write in Turbo Pascal, Basic or even C. I cannot advise with Linux, I have become bogged there.
