   You could use solid 22 or 24 gauge wire to connect the pads together.  I will often use the clipped leads of components I solder into boards for jumpered connections if they don't need to be insulated.  As for off-board stuff stranded wire is usually a better choice, but you may noticed the larger holes around the bottom and right side of the board.  These are to route your wires and act as kind of a wire-guide/strain-relief to keep your connections secure.
