> Sure, it's a plan - but is it a good plan? I would prefer a one-chip solution. Make an estimate of the CPU time needed (both PID calculations and hardware control), and then decide what you need. There is a lot of choice even within Microchip's product, but when you would need a dsPIC level chip I would personally prefer an ARM instead. I would consider FPGA's only when you need something that can be done easily in hardware and is realy too CPU-heavy to do on a CPU.
