Sounds basically right.. It may also be a problem with drive level or cap selection on the crystal caps. Xtals have a drive level spec that you need to observe, and I would also check oscillation margin, though that's more of a startup thing. Then of course walking through the code, looking for timing issues, or maybe an int that happens during a read, or someone stepping on the data after it's been read. > > Sounds like this is what I need to check then.
