I apologize gents if I confused you, got my diode terms mixed up.  Its the
cathode of the LED I have connected to RA4, anode to 1K resistor then to
+5V.  So if the pin pulls down then I don't have to change anything.

I will check out DS39647A, I wasn't aware that document existed.
