No, water moccasins constitute an extremely poisonous species of water snakes which abound in this particular region. Their main joy in life, so far as I can determine, is to lurk in overhanging trees which are on the sides of our scenic waterways, where tourists love to paddle their own canoes under said overhanging trees. The water moccasins seem to get a huge kick out of seeing how fast they can empty a canoe when they casually drop down into one from an overhanging limb. From experience, I can say that they can empty the average canoe in about 8.5 nanoseconds.
