Absolutely, and they don't supply any drivers for the host end either. Only of any interest if you need the speed of the SPI interface (in which case you may be better off using a MCU with embedded USB), and have the time to write a PC driver. Maybe you can write it while you're waiting for the production parts to arrive ;-) Nice quote from their FAQ comparing with USB-Serial bridge chips : "Support: A product you design using one of these chips will require the companion driver to be installed by your customer. Because it is a custom driver, it is not guaranteed to work with future versions of the operating system. If you choose this approach, try to make sure that the vendor is committed to supporting the driver for the lifetime of your product." They seem to be implying that this is a disadvantage of using a USB-Serial chip - If you use a chip like the FTDI, you know they will update the drives quickly becase so many people are using them. With the Maxim chip, you have to keep track of all the new ways Windows gets broken and update the driver yourself as necessary.... -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
