Is there any standardization in USB-to-parallel converters? Because it seems to me that "wiggling", in general, is a useful thing. Not just for pic programmers, but for JTAG, testing LCDs, etc. And sevral pins of wiggling, not just two or three. So the parallel port vacuum will get stronger and stronger until something fills it. Two years ago when I bought my laptop, I also bought a pcmcia parallel port card. It was expensive, but it's a real parallel port. I imagine in the future someone will make a USB version that takes hold in the marketplace and be more affordable.
