At these High temperatures you will need a 4-wire connection. Also think that it could cause other problems as well. Would sugest that you use a Thermocouple type K, They normaly come with a connection wire that is a meter os something, or you make the extension-wire yourself from thermocouple wire. The wire would easily handle up to 800 degC or above. The only drawbak is the somewhat akward way of connecting it with compensating for the cold connection. But there are IC's out there that does the job, easily interfacing to any uP.
