It's a (subtly) different question. I was hoping the answer would be better defined :-) Although, I'm a bit shocked how well the AVR 'butterfly' board fits the description I built up. It's got: Bootloader and Jtag program download. 120 Segment LCD display (not standard, but...) Piezo element. rs232 level converter 5-way joystick (switch) Light and temp sensors. Headers for expansion. 4Mbit serial "dataflash" external memory. And it sells for $20. I think it would be awful difficult to match that functionality for that price, even making your own PCB, using all surplus parts, and doing the assembly yourself. On top of that, the software it comes with is pretty neat and serves as a general intro to the sorts of things that are possible.
