Reflections will probably be your biggest problem. What you have to avoid is
a direct transmission path and a reflected transmission path that differ by
a half wavelength at the 2.4GHz frequency. It would be quite easy to have
this problem on calm water, as the reflection on the water will not be too
far from the R/C boat.
