Hello, You're going to have to be a little more clear as to WHAT you found "small". If the pics available in the 18F series all don't have enough ram, code space or eeprom then I'd recommend the 30F series. The 30F are 16bit microcontrollers with boat loads of code space and ram. As for compilers, both the 18F parts and the 30F parts have C compilers that support ALL parts directly from Microchip, and both are available in "school editions" that are full featured except for optimizations. Search for C18 and C30 on the Microchip website. Hope this helped.
