>For a book, this is the best IMHO. There are others and some of the ones >listed at >http://www.piclist.com/techref/microchip/books.htm are pretty good, but all >you really need is available on line for free at >http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist/begin.htm I bought the book in question when it was called Easy Pic'n as well as the Pic'n Up The Pace title and found it to be a very valuable resource. I tried the free method of looking up stuff on the net but didn't get very far until I actually bought Easy Pic'n. The book puts everything into easy to understand terms and only shows you what you need to know to get started instead of bombarding you with useless (useless to a beginner anyway) information that only causes confusion and more things to worry about. After you have the basics down, web resources and the other "useless information" makes a whole lot more sense and because valid bits of knowledge. I'm a hands on, lets get started type of person as opposed to read the manual front to back in attempt to attain complete understanding. This book got me started very quickly and allowed me to actually write (copy out of the book) a working program the first time I opened it up. Anyway, just my 2 cents. I highly recommend the book.
