But I tried it -- set the PATH to something very simple (just C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32) using Edit, clicked OK. Then restarted the computer. But when I brought up the command-line window and typed PATH nothing had changed. All the MCC18 stuff was still in there, and such commands as edit and ping still do not work. That is why I asked for advice -- it has me puzzled that the way Microsoft says to do it apparently does not work. One thing I noticed was that the "apply" button was gray (not active), but I am a system administrator on my computer and should have all the permissions that I need to change anything.
