Thanks! That was what I was looking for - some sort of "prototype/lab" 
VID/PID combination.

Now on to code the non-USB part of it. Boy was that boilerplate USB 
driver code a bitch. I'll be uploading it somewhere once I'm done, in 
case someone has other uses for it.
