One way would be take a gadget that you have access to but will for sure
never use and use that VID/PID.

Another one: check http://www.voti.nl/pids/, I have reserved PIDs 1000
.. 1009 for 'lab use'. You are free to use these PIDs with my VID
provided that 
- those gadgets do not leave your desk, and 
- you won't complain to me if you get in trouble with duplicate PIDs
