Doesn't capacity scale with weight, and volume (and with the square of the diameter for cylindrical cells) ? How about price scaling ? How much for a 'real' D cell vs a 'real' AA ? 7 times more ? Probably not. I sort of started this thread so I add my take on 'reputable' cells: I buy from a reasonably small shop which specializes in batteries and I buy well-known types which are featured there for more than a year or so. I did get burned a few times but not so bad (the price was right). Bad batteries get rotated out pretty quick from such a place because nobody buys them a second time and the owner can't afford to ruin his reputation by pushing them on to mostly professional clients.
