In the beginning that can slow you down quite a bit and if you just want to draw and print something - you can skip drawing schematic. The only thing to know is that you cannot add a schematic later. You must start over to properly create a schematic which then will create a board. If you want to just create a schematic for study, try to do a simple voltage regulator layout and then have the software autoroute.
