You have probably already done these things but here is my usual approach:
Reduce to the minimum configuration... Shut down anti virus, firewalls, 
networking, etc.
Reinstall the application.
Disconnect all unnecessary hardware, especially firewire, usb etc.
  Consider a malfunction in the PDA....
Make sure you are allowing active x and turn off all the other things you do 
to maintain a secure environment!
