Huh - I like the PEC11's, and they seemed cheap ($2.37 from Mouser). Haven't exercised them for very long, though, as the project has yet to be finalized and put into use. The Piher CI-11 is the other one I've used. The decoding is slightly different from the Bourns encoders, and the detents don't have as nice a feel to me, but other than that it's equivalent. More expensive, though - $5.38. Also haven't stressed it very much. Its shorter shaft fits better in my project, so it may be the one I'll use. (These prices were from August 2004.) -- Timothy J.
