I was wondering if anyone would "get" that one. 

For the uninitiated, the Theremin CAN be played beautifully.  See Clara
Rockmore's recordings.  Unfortunately, just breathing will throw off
your pitch significantly, and you have NO frame of reference for where
the notes are located in space.  Even a slide trombone has mechanical
stops, and the notes are fixed relative to the stops.   IF you can get
the technique, IF you can give it fiendish concentration, IF the
instrument is cooperating, you can make beautiful music.
