OK!!! I answered my own question! I found after rubbing my eyes and 
reading further, the answers to my questions in the "C30 Compiler Users 
Guide". It is disguised from the novice under the the name "Device 
Support Files". In the PC world of C, there are Language References 
which describe the language usage and Compiler references which describe 
compilation. I guess that is where my confusion began. Thanks again for 
the replies.
