One reason for the long life is spares supply,how many are sat out in the desert 'waiting' to be put back to service at short notice? or am i out of touch, the last time I went to an airshow i stood in front of a Hawker sea Fury as it revved up,probably wouldn't be allowed now due to noise levels, never mind safety!
