I'm with you, and there's another reason not to like them in the UK (and perhaps in the rest of Europe): a book is zero-rated for VAT, but if it includes a CD it becomes VAT chargeable, so the price is 17.5% more for the whole deal (which presumably costs more to begin with to cover the cost of creating and inserting the CD). And since a CD is going to get out of date, the chances are it will be necessary to re-download it anyway!
