Just an observation: I have designed a telephone device (being marketed by my former company h= ere in Brazil) that: 1) Checks caller ID to see if the caller is a 'not-at-home' type. If it i= s, the phone does not ring. 2) Checks caller ID to see if the caller is a 'busy' type. If so, it answ= ers and sends an artificial busy signal for he/she. 3) Checks caller ID to see if the caller is a 'distinctive ring' type. If so, one of 9 different rings will be activated. 4) Checks caller ID to see if the caller is the owner's cell phone. If so= , it silently answers the call and let the owner do several things: A) listen to what is happening at home (good to check on nannies...) B) have the phone ring C) send dtmf codes on the house line to receivers that will turn devices on/off D) activate/deactivate the alarm, activate panic button remotely, etc. Ye= s, it is also a very complete monitored alarm system, with wireless detector= s and peripherals, etc. And many, many other nice features... =20 -----Mensagem original----- De: piclist-bounces@mit.edu [mailto:piclist-bounces@mit.edu] Em nome de J= ohn Nall Enviada em: s=E1bado, 12 de novembro de 2005 15:04 Para: Microcontroller discussion list - Public. Assunto: [OT] Looking for a phone silencer (I wasn't sure what topic this should go under -- probably either PIC or = EE could be justified. But I'll use OT anyway). I'm looking for a phone silencer, and given all the experience on the piclist in designing things and just general knowledge, I feel sure someo= ne here can probably point me in the right direction. I've tried using Goog= le to search, but apparently am not phrasing the appropriate search terms, because I have not come up with anything even close. By "phone silencer" I mean a box that sits between the phone and the=20 jack, and decides whether or not to let the phone actually ring. This=20 device would have the ability to have a list of numbers in memory, and wo= uld test the incoming caller-id number against the list. If the number were = on the list, then the phone would ring. If it were not on the list, then th= e phone would not ring but everything else would work the same (which is to say that after 5 silent rings, voice-mail would pick up and take a messag= e if the caller wanted to leave one). If anyone can point me to such a device, either commercial or just a circuit, I would be grateful. -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your members= hip options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
