Now and again they pop up on Ebay. TDS-2CM is the model # if I remember correctly. You're right, for most applications you will only use the serial port. The only other interface module you can get is the TDS-2MM which is the same as the 2CM but with FFT or a module with printer only output. (basically a screen dump) It is not really much use. They work fine with USB to serial converters. The Wavestar software is quite good also. I use it all the time, but I have some code snippets for getting data from the scope which I must try sometime if I can dig them out.
