I sent a message earlier but haven't seen it come across so I'll give it 
another try.  I have never used a real time clock or I2C comm.  I found a 
suitable candidate, DS1388, with I2C and trickle charge for a backup 
battery.  Unfortunately I can't find a supplier for it including Maxim.  I 
looked at the DS1302 which is not I2C but is available however its 3 wire 
interface uses RC3 for a synch clock.  Will this be a problem for using the 
other I2C devices?  Any help is appreciated.
