An electrically competent friend provides this salutary warning: ____________ Russell, I got a big fright with 12VDC some years ago while flounder fishing at low tide in an estuary. I had lashed up the thing while camping using a metal pole from my tent, the battery from my motorcycle, and a sealed beam lamp unit and some wiring "found" in a derelict car. The thing stopped working and suspecting a loose connection to the battery terminal I grabbed hold of it to give it a "wiggle". The pole happened to be connected to the other terminal and was in the salt water (as were my feet) and my hands were wet. It took all my strength to let go and until I did it felt like something incredibly heavy had been placed on my chest.
