I used the term "Wisp628" in the sense of the whole package, but realize that there are lots of different pieces involved. Anyway, you (and Olin) answered the basic question -- the hex file doesn't contain the device ID of the device that the program was assembled for. I think that is a gross deficiency, and obviously you do too. But lots of deficiencies in life, and so we just keep on trucking.
