I've been playing with a 16f84a for the past few days and have enjoyed every minute with it. However, I also purchased an AVR90xxx at the same time and have yet to begin learning about it. What is the general feeling about Atmel's MCUs (price, capability, ease of use/learning, speed of development, availability of tools)? Particularly the AVR/tiny lines as they seem the most comparable. Looking through the archives, it seems that opinions of Ubicom's SX series are pretty high. I do like the fact that a good working knowledge of the PICs leads to a knowledge of the SX MCUs. Alas, they seem to be going away. From http://www.ubicom.com/processors/sx/sx_family.html : "This product family is going through an end-of-life period that ends November 30, 2005. Please see the Ubicom Notice of SX Family Obsolescence for details. For information on continued support, please visit the Parallax Web site at: http://www.parallax.com/sx/sx_update.asp" In short, if you were to start over, would you still choose PICs as your development platform of choice? Looking forward to your replies :) - Nate -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
