Dave Miller runs a really nice place from
which to purchase service manuals for much of the test gear we all
use. From time to time, he makes some of those downloads available
for free at
Hope this is useful to somebody
dwayne
The current offerings at the free download site
are:
>Here's the Tektronix 2232 Service Manual. It's done in black &
>white, so we won't sell it, but you'll be surprised at the
>readability attained in a mere 22MB for this 423 page document.
>Distribute it as you see fit..
>
>
>Here's a nice Tektronix chart of reference material concerning
>probes, both which Tek probe to use with certain models and also a
>cross reference to other manufacturers. It's 52 MB in size, so
>please be sure to RIGHT-click on it to save it directly to your
>drive instead of loading into Acrobat over the internet. If you want
>to distribute it, great, and we'd really appreciate it if it were
>sent with the bookmark notations intact. "You know who" in Minnesota
>hasn't downloaded it, passworded it and called it his own yet, and
>we'd like to prevent that from happening as long as possible.
>
>
>We've become aware of a tremendous resource! A good general manual
>from Tektronix on how to troubleshoot and repair their scopes! We
>won't provide it for download here, but will tell you where to get
>it free of charge: SPHERE RESEARCH. Actually, Sphere is a tremendous
>resource in and of itself. Parts! Service Tips! Equipment! You'll
>want to cruise around Sphere's site for a while. It's a slice of
>heaven for lovers of quality test equipment, especially those of us
>doing what we can to keep beautiful albeit older equipment going.
>Betcha dollars to doughnuts Sphere ends up in your bookmarks (or "favorites")!
>
>
>I finally had to fix my HP5383A! It was just some deteriorated
>solder on the PCB, but wasn't visible, and without the service
>manual it'd have been much more difficult. We'm going to spread this
>one around.. it's not a great work, but it'll do the job. You'll
>soon see it being sold on you-know-where, of course, but spread the
>word it can be obtained here at the source for free. Also, if anyone
>has a better scan of it we'll trade some of our other offerings for
>it. If anyone has time or inclination to upload this to BAMA, please
>feel free to do so. We'd appreciate it if it were sent with the
>bookmark notations intact, but if not, that's fine.
>
>
>We bought a Wavetek SSI-3000B original manual on eBay to scan and
>include in our scanned manual offerings, but when it arrived it
>turned out to be a photocopy with a page missing. We scanned it
>anyway, and although the end product isn't good enough to include in
>our high quality offerings it's sure a whole lot better than nothing
>if you have a sick service monitor! So here it is.
>
>
>Has anyone seen that Tektronix Semiconductor Parts Cross Reference
>Book on eBay? In the $200-$250 range? Well, here's the meat of it,
>free. Yes, it's the same book we sell a CD of at
>http://home.comcast.net/~aa4df02/tek_xref.htm, but without the
>bookmarking, hyperlinking, dual page numbering, covers, logos, and
>all those other niceties. In this free file you get the meat of it,
>though, and all of it. This item is zipped but is still 26MB, so
>give it sufficient time to download!
>
>
>Here's a really great one for anyone who has, wants to have, will
>have, or might have dealings with the Tektronix TM-500 Series Power
>Modules. This documents the rear pinout availability of front panel
>connections, and while it's great to have in order to make
>semi-permanent setups it's essential to have this info in order to
>sub for an absent patch cable! This item is 26MB, so give it
>sufficient time to download!
>
>
>Another free download currently available is a very nice Tektronix
>Application Note which is titled "Spectrum Analyzer Fundamentals".
>This is a 10MB file. The name pretty much describes it, and unless
>you're already a wizard with the spectrum analyzer you'll want to
>check this out. Even if you're already completely familiar with the
>instrument, it's good reading.
>
>
>Another free download is the operating manual for the Yaesu FT-2400H
>FM Transceiver. This is a 6.4MB file. Much of the operation of this
>fine radio is intuitive, but some is not. Also, it covers options
>for the radio, programming, cloning and etceteras.
>
>
>The free file(s) available on this page will be changed as needed
>due to web space limitations, so if you have a file distribution
>system you run or participate in, by all means include what you find
>here. These files are intended for free distribution. Please note
>that there are a small number other free downloads peppered in
>amongst the sales items in the manuals pages. At least one free item
>is located on the For Sale ("Yard Sale"), Test Equipment, Radio, and
>Pager pages. I'm afraid there are no freebies in the Broadcast &
>Video Manuals section at this time.
>
>Please note that these free downloads, because of size constraints,
>will always be the smaller, faster, lower-resolution versions of
>PDFs we distribute. If you require a "very high resolution" or
>"reproduction quality" version of anything we distribute, please
>visit the manuals links from the index page of www.aa4df.net; if you
>don't see what you want listed, email an inquiry, as we quite
>possibly have it and haven't had time to list it.
>
>Please note that these are not tiny PDFs, though they're as small as
>can be made consistent with useable quality. Depending on your
>connection speed, it might take a l-o-n-g time for your computer to
>download the PDF manual. Please give it plenty of time.
