Oh sure - but my reasoning goes along the line of using a colour burst
crystal for the PIC and then using the PLL inside to get to 4 or 8 times the
frequency to generate suitable phase offset outputs for colour signal
generation, while having the internal timers generate the sync pulses, and
the PIC dynamically generate the picture info - sort of a souped up moving
letters display on a TV screen.
