BG Micro has a variable inventory often at very good prices. You need to read carefully, though, as sometimes their stuff is a little unusual. For a long time they have had some 16x1's pulled from medical devices for $3. These are in a weird bezel so a pain to mount, have 0.05" spacing which makes them a pain to connect, and fairly low contrast. But for junk projects they are cheap and handy. Unlike most 16x1's they are really 16x1 and not 8x2 side by side. Digikey does have a 16x2 for around $6 which is small, but quite a nice display. Mouser tends to have similar stuff/prices as Digikey, but once in a while you run across something a lot cheaper in one place or the other. All Electronics and Ocean State Electronics tend to have a variable inventory much like B.G, but often quite a few more choices. Same caveats as B.G., though. Hamfests are a good source, if you know what you are looking for. Read my LCD lesson at http://www.amqrp.org/elmer160 for a few pointers. Seems to me Wouter had some on his shop for reasonable prices -- could be wrong there. Every so often someone on the QRP-L reflector has some to unload. I got some great Seiko 20x2's there cheap a few months back. Lots and lots of places, but a wide range of prices and features. You gotta keep a pocketfull of them 'lert thingies. --McD ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Jordan" To: "Microcontroller discussion list - Public."
