To stray a bit away from topic, but I have been asked to supply a list of potential US based assembly houses. I turn over the list and my client makes the contacts. I have a couple of names but my client wants 7 or 8 recommendations. Seems a bit high to me but they are nervous about short-term scheduling of production runs. Preference would be for assembly houses in the mid-west so that site visits are more convenient. The design calls for a double sided board, SMT on the top, and 7 or 8 PTH parts on the bottom (transformer, couple of sockets, etc). Board is 2.50" x 5.75", 2oz copper (more likely 1oz plated to 2oz). Soldermask but probably no legend. The smallest SMT parts are SOT-23. Resistors and non-polarized caps are 1206, polarized tantalums are "B" size, a couple of 74' logic ics in 50mil pitch SOIC-16, some D2PAKs and a few other odds and ends. In short, no 0.5mm pitch stuff! The production runs would be on the order of 100 to 500 pieces initially with future ramp-up to 3,000/year. Lead-free (ROHS) will be an issue mostly for component availability, not because of export. I have much more detail available for private emails.
