Not really in part of the world and in the desert. Water is really a very important (strategic) resource and maybe one day it will be as half price of the oil in certain place. There are on-going discussions between Singapore and Malaysia regarding the water supply problem. Singapore has to set up backup plans which costs a lot of Money. 1) From Malaysia (very cheap now, but Malaysia want to raise the cost) 2) From rain-fall (not enough) 3) From sea water (rather expensive now) 4) From waste water (called New Water here), mostly for industrial use (wafer fab) but they may be mixed into tap water.
