For genuine owners of a WARP-13, new firmware has been released. It family and version is BluePole 1.6(i) The status of this firmware is that it is a MANDATORY update from any and all previous firmware versions all of which are to be considered withdrawn. (Mandatory means don't bother filing a bug report or asking for any assistance if you don't have this firmware. Of course I cannot force you to update, just don't call me if you don't.) A possible timing problem has been identified when the WARP-13 is used as an ICSP programmer and there is a very fast oscillator (20Mhz crystal) on the target PIC. It is possible for the oscillator to start-up before the PIC is fully powered down. This may cause unpredictable results. One occasional result was the corruption of the data eeprom even though there was no code explicitly writing to the eeprom. The results of our tests showed that the new firmware remedied this situation. Sorry for any inconvenience this design flaw may cause. Thanks very much to Ian De Rieu who's work with a CRO proved invaluable. Special note for the Gold members of the Friends of Newfound Club. BluePole 1.7 is only a day or two away and if you are not doing ICSP with a fast crystal oscillator you can safely wait for the faster firmware as it too will have this "coding improvement" along with other advantages.
