That being the case, you want to make sure it's had time to "rest" since finishing printing before you chop the power - preferably let it go into powersave mode first, because there are a lot of hot components, and shutting it down gracefully means that other parts aren't going to be damaged by being left in contact while they cool. Do you notice short bursts of motor-run while it's ready but not printing? A lot of early lasers did this to make sure things weren't in the same place for too long.
